From photograph to a trustworthy puzzle
A practical capture workflow for clean grids and fewer transcription surprises.
Capture square-on
Place the page on a flat surface, remove glare, and fill the frame. A slight angle can make cells look rectangular and confuse borders and bars. Photograph several pages separately.
Crop before extraction
Use crop handles to exclude headlines, answer keys, and nearby puzzles. Rotate until grid lines are horizontal. The saved original remains available while the crop gives extraction a cleaner input.
Review every warning
Extraction is a draft. Check title, dimensions, clue numbering, and any answer that conflicts with checked letters. A warning is useful evidence, not a failure state.
